Spy Camera puts city
on global stage
 
A Lichfield based company has installed a webcam taking pictures to promote the city of Lichfield to the world.  Pinnacle Information Systems Ltd has just installed the camera on the second floor of its offices pointing towards Market Street.

The web camera is in action 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is now broadcasting pictures and streaming video of Lichfield around the globe.

The initiative is aimed at promoting businesses, tourism and helping prevent crime - although the town centre is already monitored by CCTV.
The webcam site has attracted a huge number of hits within the first few days of operation.

PIS Ltd, which employs 12 people in Lichfield and specialises in IT services, said it has installed the web camera as part of its contribution to assist local businesses, tourism and the economy.

Savvas Hiou, Sales and Marketing Manager said the company decided to do it to allow internet users around the world to see Lichfield live.

"Market Street is a great example of Staffordshire and shows the special buildings and the activities going on," he said.

The web site also had links to Lichfield City Council, local weather and tourism related sites. 

Councillor David Smith, leader of Lichfield District Council, said, "If what it is doing is showing how superb Lichfield is with views of Market Street, and encouraging people to shop here, that is tremendous and I fully support it."

Webcam site is launched

LIVE pictures and streaming video of Lichfield are being broadcasted around the world on the Internet in the latest attempt to promote local businesses, tourism and to prevent crime.

Pinnacle Information Systems Ltd launched the new webcams site with a view from the second floor of its office pointing towards Market Street Lichfield Staffordshire.

Visitors to the site are able to watch frequently updated images of people shopping and strolling through the city centre.
